***La Rose***
22 m² on the first floor, with a special feature: the passage to the bathroom was once the original entrance to the tower. Walking through it today means stepping through a doorway that has been in use since the 16th century.
The room combines historic character with modern comfort. A queen-size bed (160 × 200 cm), comfortable armchairs, desk, small fridge and espresso machine make it an inviting place to relax after a day exploring Normandy.
The private en-suite bathroom lies just beyond the historic passage — a small reminder that in Château de Planquery, history is never far away.
***Le Paon***
A 22 m² room on the second floor, where history is never far away.
The old tomettes — handcrafted terracotta tiles typical of Normandy for centuries — are still original here.
Beneath your feet: centuries of history.
Just next door, the private bathroom hides an unexpected feature: two original arrow slits in the walls. Long before the château became a place of hospitality, these openings formed part of the tower’s defenses. Nearly a thousand years later, they remain visible — a small but fascinating connection to the building’s medieval past.

***Lounge & Kitchen***
The lounge is the shared heart of the guest tower — a place to read, plan tomorrow’s adventures
or simply unwind after a day exploring Normandy.
The small kitchen next door is available for light meals and snacks, making longer stays especially comfortable.
Both rooms are shared by all guests staying in the tower.
During breakfast hours, however, they are reserved for guests who have booked breakfast.
***Garden, Nature and Night Sky***
Where Viking guards once kept watch, guests now relax beneath old trees,
listen to birdsong and occasionally spot deer crossing the meadow.
The château is surrounded by unspoiled Norman countryside. During the day you’ll hear
countless birds, at dusk bats emerge, and at night owls take over.
On clear moonless nights, the Milky Way stretches above the ancient towers —
a sight many guests have not seen in years.
You’ll also meet our resident spiders. They have lived here almost as long as the château itself
and perform an important service by keeping mosquitoes under control.
We care deeply about preserving this place and its surroundings. Recycling, energy conservation,
local sourcing and natural wastewater treatment are all part of daily life here.
After more than a thousand years, Château de Planquery is still standing.
We hope to help it remain here for another thousand.

***Breakfast***
Freshly baked bread and croissants, Norman cheeses, homemade jams,
eggs, yoghurt, muesli, fresh fruit and good coffee.
Served from 9 a.m. by prior reservation.
Simple, generous and prepared with the same philosophy as the château itself: local, fresh and unhurried.
As we buy all our ingredients fresh and mostly directly from local producers,
we kindly ask you to reserve your breakfast at least 24 hours before your arrival.
***Brotzeit***
Being Rhinelanders living in Normandy, we have imported one German tradition: Brotzeit.
A simple evening meal of cheeses, cold cuts, eggs, fresh vegetables and bread —
perfect for guests arriving after a long day of travel.
A small gesture for the first evening. Nothing more — and just enough.
Please let us know by the day before so we can shop fresh.
***Dogs***
Lili, Lola, Lupi and Benji consider the Château their kingdom and roam freely around their domain. So, a tail-wagging encounter is quite likely.
Well-behaved dogs are very welcome too. Up to three per room stay
free of charge.

***Contact with the outside world***
High-speed fibre WiFi is available free of charge throughout the house — fast enough for streaming.
We have deliberately chosen not to have TV sets.
The tower walls are wonderfully thick. Excellent for peace and quiet, less excellent for mobile reception.
Most smartphones can make calls via WiFi.
***Working with a view of thousand years of history***
Working where Vikings once kept watch. Why not.
Fibre WiFi suitable for video calls, streaming and remote work.
And on request: ergonomic office chair, monitor, keyboard, mouse, laptop stand.
A desk is already waiting in your room.

In Perfect Peace
At the Château, your room is prepared before your arrival and put back in order after your departure.
In between, we leave it in peace — and you as well.
Fresh towels are always available at upon request.

Exclusive rental of the guest tower
The guest tower of the château can also be rented exclusively as a self-contained accommodation for up to four guests. The rental is generally offered on a weekly basis. Arrival and departure are preferably on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays, but can be arranged flexibly depending on availability.
The guest tower is let as a complete offering. Breakfast or evening snack cannot be added here. The corresponding difference in price reflects this more independent way of staying.
Included in the price: bed linen, towels, tourist tax, Wi-Fi and final cleaning. A weekly electricity allowance of 50 kWh is included. Additional consumption will be charged at €0.25 per kWh.

A refundable security deposit of €250 is required for the exclusive rental of the guest tower.

Dogs
Your dogs are very welcome and stay free of charge. Up to three dogs per room are usually no problem.
For larger groups of dogs, or very large breeds, please contact us before booking.
The garden is fully enclosed by fences, hedges, walls and a moat with a minimum height of 1.50 m.
Upon request we are happy to provide a dog bed and bowls.
If your dog enjoys sleeping in the (human) bed, we kindly ask you to bring your own bed linen.
Alternatively we charge €30 for the additional cleaning effort.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of cancellation, the following terms apply:

27 days to 7 days before the day of arrival: 50% of the total price

6 days to 1 day before the day of arrival: 80% of the total price

from 1 day before the day of arrival (from 4:00 pm), as well as in case of no-show or early departure: 100% of the total price
Holiday Home (Guest Tower)
In the event of cancellation, the following terms apply:

up to 4 months before the day of arrival: 30% of the total price

up to 6 weeks before the day of arrival: 35% of the total price

up to 5 weeks before the day of arrival: 45% of the total price

up to 4 weeks before the day of arrival: 60% of the total price

up to 3 weeks before the day of arrival: 90% of the total price

up to 2 weeks before the day of arrival and thereafter: 100% of the total price
Additional information

The date on which we receive your cancellation is decisive for calculating the applicable fees.

Cancellations must be made in written form (e.g. by email).

If we are able to re-let the room or the guest tower for the cancelled period, any payments already made will be adjusted or refunded accordingly.
We recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance.
